Pembina Galactic 779
How would you handle the end of the Galaxy? When Galactic Transport 779 is thrown out of warp on their way from Earth to Sirius Star Colony, they are faced with the harrowing task of repairing their aging galactic transport before they run out of oxygen. Despite rising tensions, a medical crisis, and panic, they are able to pull together to warp to the closest colonized star system.
What they find will shake the foundations of their reality as they soon come to realize that the unusual circumstances that caused their crisis in the first place, may have spared them from succumbing to a mind shattering Galactic mass extinction. As the laws of physics start to break down and they face time-bending phenomenon, the passengers and crew of PGT-779 are forced to work together to survive, if it’s even possible.
Join their struggle towards a last glimmer of hope as they are forced to reflect on the decisions that have shaped their lives and contemplate what it means to exist, while facing the extinction of every living thing in the Galaxy.

Current Extensive Plot Outline:
This was done in one night going off a dream I had and after pitching it to Syd. It’s very rough. How do we face an uncertain future in the face of mass extinction? As I’m writing this we face a global crisis and this maybe hits a little close to home. It’s kind of a writing exercise but also… a way of coping? Anyway, I’d like our characters to explore what it means to live and why we continue on. How do they continue on in the face of a Galactic crisis and how are people able to cope?
Here’s who I’m thinking about so far. I like the idea of the main character being a mother and having her young daughter on board with her. The mother would be the one pushing for us to travel to our final story destination, in the hopes that she will be able to save her daughter. The Captain would be older and maybe a widow/widower. They were ready to accept death but decides to choose to try and help them. The Medic/Scientic Officer would become the First Officer after the original leaves and help our characters navigate technobabble/space things. I envision a situation in which our characters encounter a holographic AI that they take along with them who can provide any needed technobable and/or comic relief.
All this can be changed or kept the same but would act as a starting point.
I like the idea of the daughter actually narrating the story but in the future as an old lady. We don’t know who she is until the very end. Every episode would centre around a specific character who would sign off the episode with “I am a passenger on Pembina Galactic 779”. The daughter would do the final sign off on the finale as she tells her story to the surviving humans who managed to escape the Space Rapture.
What character would you like to see yourself play? Who should we add to the roster? What future space occupation would you like 600 years in the future? Yes, you can be a space Pharmacy Technician or Space Librarian if you really want 😉
This would be further shaped after I find out who wants to shape it with me and what kind of characters we want to see.
Main Characters so far:

- Medic/Scientific Officer
- Holographic Character / Ship’s AI
Secondary Characters so far (first 2 episodes only):
- First Officer (co-pilot/navigation),
- Engineer
- 3 Attendants (Space Flight Attendants)
- Suicide Passenger
- New Mother and her baby
- Anarchy passenger
- Helpful Passenger
- Space Ranger/Space Martial
- Episode 1:
- Characters board Pembina Galactic 779, We’re introduced to world and main characters
- Travelling from Earth to Sirius Star Colony
- 87 passengers aboard
- 4 Crew Members
- Captain (pilot), First Officer (co-pilot/navigation), Engineer, Medic/Scientific Officer
- 3 Attendants (Space Flight Attendants)
- We hear about the future from passengers in the background, our main characters, etc.
- Specifically, we hear about the testing of the Andromeda Gate, a Stargate like portal that ships will one day use to travel to the Andromeda Galaxy (our closest neighbouring Galaxy).
- Smaller versions of this portal are already operational and in use
- This is a much larger gate / McGuffin that is being mentioned that would be utilized by commercial enterprises and larger ships
- This would be the new frontier as the Galaxy is now inhabited by humans.
- The operation of this gate can be the cause or be unrelated to anything that happens. It’s our McGuffin / goal for the end of the series.
- Alien life existing depends on whether we want it too or not.
- Specifically, we hear about the testing of the Andromeda Gate, a Stargate like portal that ships will one day use to travel to the Andromeda Galaxy (our closest neighbouring Galaxy).
- During Warp they encounter a phenomenon that throws them out of warp and/or damages the ship. Whatever this phenomenon is protects them from the Galactic extinction. This phenomenon may or may not be related to the Galactic extinction. It may or may not be explained depending on how we feel.
- The extinction essentially raptures every sentient thing. Planets, buildings, structures, ships, stars are left as is. People and animals just vanish, leaving behind a glowing twinkling aura. Synthetic beings (androids, robots, etc.) are left frozen with some of them having the same aura around them (I imagine a religious debate if this means these Synths had a soul)
- This catastrophic event occurs throughout the entire Milky Way Galaxy.
- The passengers deal with restoring power, a fire, a child birth and maybe another medical crises. Whatever happens introduces our main characters to each other.
- After restoring power to PGT-779, the Captain decides to warp the ship to the nearest habited star system, Wolf 359.
- Upon arrival they find that everyone has vanished leaving behind these auras. A news report on a repeating broadcast indicates that there was some kind of event has occurred.
- The first episode ends with the main characters realizing that they might be the last living beings… anywhere.
- 4 Crew Members
- Characters board Pembina Galactic 779, We’re introduced to world and main characters
- Episode 2
- Upon reviewing station logs and footage, the Pembina crew have to decide how and if they reveal to the others what has happened.
- They see the Galactic extinction and debate what to do as they want to tell the truth but don’t want to cause further chaos, panic or anarchy.
- Either way, everyone finds out what happened.
- At this point the greater group splits apart (not our main characters)
- With every docked ship essentially up for grabs, the remaining people split up. Some deciding to go back to Earth, Alpha Centari or other colonies to be at the last location of their families or friends (using the auto pilot). Some decide to head to the military HQ in hopes to find answers. Others break down or commit suicide, fight each other, loot, etc.
- At the centre of the Galaxy is a giant glow that seems to be sucking everything in towards it.
- Some decide to fly towards it to meet their maker.
- Our main characters decide that the Andromeda Gate is where they should head to.
- They don’t know how to operate it.
- They don’t know if they can even get there.
- They don’t have some kind of secret Gate Pass or knowledge of it other than what was released to the public.
- They don’t even know if what happened in this Galaxy, has or hasn’t happened in Andromeda
- They have decided that the Milky Way is doomed but that if they can make it to the Gate, maybe they can find refuge in the Andromeda Galaxy.
- Of the original 94(95) people on Pembina Galactic Transport 779, 8 or so decide to travel to the Gate.
- The Captain loads the ship with as much fuel as possible.
- Even though he/she has brought extra… they are not sure if it will be enough.
- Lets say the total travel time will be about 12 hours at maximum warp (but may end up being 300 years because of Relativity)
- Also, they have to travel 70,000 light years to the other side of the Galaxy.
- Also, they will come very close to the death bulge that is expanding at the centre of the Galaxy.
- The Captain loads the ship with as much fuel as possible.
- Episode 3
- They need to navigate each-others stressed out states as well as maybe dodge a bunch of planets.
- We up the game by throwing in a black hole or two.
- Our characters should bud heads.
- Episode 4
- Fuel is critically low as they used it all not dying in the last episode.
- Also their food stores are gone because of something stupid someone did saving someone else.
- Episode 5
- They have to navigate around the Galactic event at the centre of the Galaxy.
- They do get past it by the end of the episode.
- Episode 6
- The Galactic event at the centre of the Galaxy expands rapidly, bending space and time and disrupting warp capability.
- Even though they got away, it’s now powerful enough that they might not be able to outrun it via Warp drive.
- Our characters should be very close to the Gate, minutes away even. A normally easy step away… if the Galaxy wasn’t trying to murder them by imploding in on itself.
- Episode 7
- The remaining survivors we didn’t decide to kill off arrive at the Gate… then have to figure out how to work it.
- What happens on the other side? I don’t know you… YOU decide!
- I like happy, hopeful endings though
- Are the humans on the other side still alive?
- How many years have passed for them?
- 10? 100? 1000?
- How many years have passed for them?
- Upon reviewing station logs and footage, the Pembina crew have to decide how and if they reveal to the others what has happened.
